The Northern Outer Banks towns of Duck and Corolla are known for their fantastic beaches and well-planned communities. The Northernmost area of Corolla is also known as the 4-wheel drive area. The roads in North Corolla and Carova have never been paved and are literally sand paths. The 4-wheel drive area is a favorite of locals and vacationers alike as it offers great surfing and fishing. People live in the 4-wheel drive area year round and in the Summer vacationers flock to the hundreds of vacation homes North of the paved road. On the weekends, you'll see 4-wheel vehicles lining the beach and families basking in the natural surroundings which include the famous Corolla wild ponies roaming freely throughout the area.
I believe Duck and Corolla offer the best possibilities for vacation rental homes on the Outer Banks. Just as each town in the Outer Banks is different, each subdivision in Duck and Corolla has its own unique appeal and offers different features for vacationers and owners.
Some subdivisions such as The Village at Ocean Hill, Corolla Light, Monteray Shores, Buck Island, Crown Point, Pine Island, The Currituck Club, Duck Landing, Schooner Ridge and Four Seasons were planned to offer communities amenities which are paid for by each subdivision's homeowners in their homeowner's association fee.
Community amenities vary by subdivision but can include community pools, fitness centers, private club houses, tennis courts, and Oceanfront or Soundfront piers.
